Musto Academy of Excellence  inaugurated with The Royal Yachting Association to encourage, reward and support young sailors aspiring to represent Great Britain in the Olympic classes

2006 March 2006 saw the launch of the new Dinghy Collection.

The collection has been designed by dinghy sailors for dinghy sailors and received input from all Musto’s sponsored sailors.  The range is packed with technical features and provides high levels of comfort.

ABN AMRO 1 won the Volvo Ocean Race skippered by Mike Sanderson wearing Musto’s HPX – June 2006

Polly Jackson joined the Musto stable in July to assist in launching Musto’s new Innovation Collection the equestrian 3-layer system which comprises of GORE-TEX Soft Shell Jacket, Windproof Zip Neck Fleece and Long Sleeve Zipped Turtle Neck and Short Sleeve Crew Neck all styled for women.

Sporting Ladies Collection created specifically for the lady gun.  From colour to fit, material to garment weight, a stylish range designed to look good and feel great whilst providing the levels of performance you expect from Musto.

Marketing Director, Simon Payne became the Moth World Champion in August 2006.

Ellen MacArthur breaks solo round the world record. Mike Golding achieves 3rd place in the Vendée Globe. Musto sponsored young sailors Justin Visser and Simon Wheeler came 4th in Open Worlds and gained gold in Under 19 section in San Francisco. (71 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes, 33 seconds) on 75ft Trimeran B&Q. Ellen wears Musto HPX oilskins choosing chest-high trousers over which she wears a smock top with no zips.

William Fox-Pitt wins Team Silver at Athens Olympics wearing Musto. Musto-sponsored Karen Bassett wins National Four in Hand Carriage Driving Championships. Musto selected as Official Clothing Supplier for Volvo Ocean Race 2005/6. Despite being forced out with injury to his horse Tamarillo in the latter stages, Fox Pitt comes away with a silver medal.

Musto become official clothing supplier to Volvo Youth Sailing. Team New Zealand and America One wear Musto at America’s Cup. Club Med and Playstation set off around the world in ‘The Race’ – both crews wearing Musto.

Musto yet again pledges to dress Ellen MacArthur, Yachtswoman of the Year, for her future sailing ventures. Musto wins official merchandise contract for Volvo Ocean Race 2001/2. Dutch ‘Trust Team’ win Admiral’s Cup wearing Musto.

Steve Fossett, chooses to wear Musto on giant catamaran, Playstation. Nigel Musto and Andy Hindley win Class 1 in Open 60, Musto Performance Partners in the Double Handed Round Britain and Ireland Race.

BT Global Challenge finishes with no losses and HPX technology completes over 2 million ocean miles in one event. This is estimated as being the biggest research and development trial ever undertaken.

BT Global Challenge starts with 14 yachts with 14 crew members all wearing Musto. Half the entrants in Vendée Globe wear Musto including Pete Goss, Isabelle Autissier, Yves Parlier and Catherine Chabaud.

Musto supply foul-weather gear to Ellen MacArthur for Round Britain trip. Musto selected to supply clothing to Mumm 36 European circuit. Team New Zealand wins America’s Cup wearing Musto.

Yahama crew wearing Musto’s new HPX material win Whitbread Round World Race. Musto gains BS5750/ISO9001 Certification. Market report places Musto as NO.1 in all major sailing areas. RYA Youth Team, sponsored by Musto, win gold in Auckland.

Musto become exclusive clothing suppliers to Corum (France) and Aerosail (Germany) sailing squads. In Whitbread Race over 50% fleet wear 100% Musto. Alain Gautier wins the Vendée Globe Single Handed Around The World Race wearing Musto.

Laurent Bourgnon sailing ‘Primagaz’ breaks Single Handed Transatlantic Race record wearing Musto. Musto develop first viable one-piece suit for active Offshore crew that matches OCR/Whitbread specifications. British Olympic Equestrian Team select Musto.

Nigel Musto appointed Sales Director. Nigel Musto also contributes valuable on-the-water experience as a previous Olympic prospect. RNLI Awards Musto contract to supply clothing for Offshore lifeboat crew.

Keith Musto designs the first viable Two-Piece Drysuit.

Dutch Yacht ‘Flyer II’ wins Whitbread Round the World Race on handicap and on the water realising the ambition of owner Connien van Rietschoten. Musto supplied all crew clothing comprising underwear, middle and outer layer. The first ever 3 layer system.

Keith Musto resigns from Musto & Hyde Sails to concentrate on clothing systems for active sailors.

Musto & Hyde initiate and develop the first 3 Layer Clothing System (for sailors).

Between 1955 and 1963 Keith Musto wins National Dinghy Championships in 5 different classes including the International Flying Dutchman.
